As Health Correspondent/Reporter for Television New Zealand's One News for 24 years I covered all manner of health issues and worked hard to built up a solid understanding of how the New Zealand health system works. I've prided myself on my reputation as a trusted and respected health journalist, having won over a dozen health journalism awards, both here and overseas.

After all those years I've learned a thing or two about how the media works; which stories get picked up and why, what makes a press release stand out from the hundreds of others that arrive in newsroom in-boxes each day; which is the best medium to aim for to achieve maximum coverage and which individual reporters and organisations to target. I also understand the pressures in busy newsrooms today and how best to get their attention. I also know how to front-foot a situation and help 'put out the fire' if a crisis occurs and understand the vital importance of strategic crisis planning.

I can also help train yourself and/or your staff on how to ensure a smooth and professional performance once the cameras or recording devices are rolling. I can help with what to say, when to say it, how best to ensure your key messages are accurately reported, how to control the narrative and deflect/handle those "tricky" questions .. and of course how to help you perform your very best!

I can also sit down with you and construct a focussed strategic media plan for the future of your organisation; set out a clear framework for media engagement to maximise your reach to help build on your credibility and reputation.
